Frustration around traffic – or anything else in life that is out of your control – stems from the difference between your expectations and reality.
The higher your expectations of your commute being smooth and traffic free, the more frustrated you will get when it doesn’t work out that way.
The longer your commute, the greater the chance of running into traffic.
In Utah, where the summer is widely known as “construction season”, if you’ve got road work scheduled along your route the chances go up even higher.
Frustration over traffic is silly, no matter how real it may be. It’s completely out of our control, no matter what the cause. Easier to lower your expectations than to change the current reality.
Traffic is an easy example though. What in your creative career is both a) out of your control, and b) causing you frustration or grief or pain? Changing your expectations will help in those areas as well.
